Information: Kinnaur
the land of Kinners is popularly known as 'Dev Bhoomi' on the basis
of a local legend whichsays that it fell from the clouds wiht all its
beauty and splendour. These people are warm hearted and known for their
hospitality. Located in Trans Himalayas touching the borders of Tibet
and China-Kinnaur is a home to one of India's oldest traditions. A remarkable
blend of Hinduism and buddhism has prospered in great harmony here. Due
to its proximity with Tibet it has developed strong traditional ties and
similarities to tibetans. The place, it is belived ws\as abode to gods,
sages and Pandavas during their exile.

Rekong-Peo:
2290 m. Situated on a motarable link road from Powari 7Km on NH22
and at a distance of 231 Km from Shimla,Rekong Peo enjoys a pictureque
setting and commanding view of sacred Kalish Peak 6050 m. attracting
tourists. taxis are available for local sight seeing and distant
safaris.
Kothi,
at a distance of 3 km from Rekong Peo, has a temple with exquisite
gold statue of goddess Chandrika devi with a commanding view of
snow clad mountains ranges.

Kalpa:
2,960 m. 13 km ahead Rekong Peo on a link road from powari,
Kalpa was the district headquaters of Kinnaur till a few years ago.
Scared Kinner kalish Peak regarded as one of the mythical abodes
of Loard shiva-looks majestic from here. kinnauris take about 7-8
days trek for a parilrama of this peak. Kalpa has a rich variety
of apples.
