A.
ORIGIN AND ITS GROWTH TO PRESENT STATUS
This college was started on July, 1973 by Thakur Kesho
Dass of Pathankot with the co-operation of some enterprises, enlightened
and foresighted people of Dhaliara and its surrounding area. Initially
named after its founder, Thakur Kesho Dass College promised to fulfil
the long cherished dreams of the people of the catchment area for
imparting higher education to their children. The college had a
chequered history before it was taken over by the State Government
on August 15, 1984 following a strong public demand and rechristened
as Government College, Dhaliara. Since its very inception, this
institution has lived upto the expectations of its founder and the
people. It was upgraded as a Post-Graduate College in August, 2001.
Located
in a serene and sylvan environment some 400 mtrs away from the Dhaliara
Bazar on the Dharamshala-Hoshiarpur road this college is an ideal
place for learning. The Pong lake in its foreground and the Shiwalik
hills in the background lend it an aura of Ashrams of yore which
were known for their guru-chela parmpara. Students from four Vidhan
Sabha constituencies viz. Pragpur, Chintpurni, Jawalaji and Jaswan
avail themselves of educational facilities that are available here.
Already, this institution has produced thousands of graduates who
are doing exceptionally well in whichever field they are engaged
in.

ANY PROJECT PROPOSAL/PROPOSALS THAT/THOSE NEED FUNDING BY SOME EXTERNAL
AGENCY
Established
in 1973, college is located in the rural area, 10 K.m. away from even
Tehsil Headquaters. Dhaliara, in fact, is a small village which doesn't
fulfil the basic necessities such as residential houses. We have proposed
the construction of Teachers colony in the college campus. We have
already got the master plan made of this project. This project need
funding by some external agency. |
